Auto Insurance

Who needs auto insurance?

You do. Arkansas, and most other states, requires you to prove your ability to meet your financial responsibilities that may arise from auto accidents. You and your family deserve protection from costs of injuries and property damage. Your auto insurance can enable you to provide for these needs. Contact a Farm Bureau Insurance agent for complete details regarding specific policy coverages and rates.

What protection is provided by auto insurance?

You may become legally responsible to others injured in an auto accident; you may sustain repair costs to your automobile, and your passengers may sustain injury - all of these costs may be covered through auto insurance. Even our lowest liability limits satisfy Arkansas’ minimum liability limits; however, you may choose higher protection limits. Your family and passengers may enjoy medical, disability and death benefits if you elect Personal Injury Protection (PIP). You may recover the costs of repairs to your auto, rental reimbursement, and travel expenses if you choose Comprehensive, Collision, or Rental Travel coverages. Uninsured Motorist (UM) protects you, your family, your passengers, and even your auto in case you’re hit by someone who does not have insurance; while Underinsured Motorist (UIM) coverage provides you similar protection from someone who doesn’t have enough insurance to cover the bodily injury they cause you.

How can I reduce my auto insurance premiums?
  • The type of car you have will affect your premiums. Your car’s year model, make and custom equipment may affect how often your car is stolen or vandalized, how great the property damage may be and how serious injuries may be expected. Sports and high performance cars are often difficult to insure and usually more expensive to insure. Choosing a conservative auto may reduce your premiums.
  • Your driving record will affect your premiums. Traffic accidents and violations will increase the premiums charged for each driver on your policy. Keeping your driving record free of accidents or traffic violations will reduce your premiums.
  • Our Auto/Home discount rewards our clients with a credit for allowing us to insure your private passenger autos and protect you with an HO-1 or HO-3 homeowners policy.
  • A Claims Free Discount will lower your premiums when you have been insured with us for three years with no chargeable accidents.
  • Driver Training Discounts are available to qualifying drivers under age 22 and can reduce your premiums.
  • Defensive Driving Discounts which are available for the completion of a DD course certified by Arkansas Department of Motor Vehicles will lower your premiums.
  • Higher Deductibles on your physical damage coverages, Collision and Comprehensive, will lower your overall premiums.
  • Good Student Discounts, available to qualifying full time students who are at least 16 years old, can lower your premiums.
  • Our Mature Driver rating lowers premiums for drivers ages 50 and older.
  • Post Graduate Discounts, available to graduates of a four-year college or university, can lower your premiums. To be eligible one must be under age 25 and have a cumulative grade of "B" or better.
  • Our Multi-Car Discount will save you premiums on insuring two or more passenger cars or pickup trucks under the same member number.
What are some other factors affecting my premium?
  • The age of your drivers affects your premiums. Since younger drivers tend to have more auto accidents, their premiums are generally higher.
  • How your auto is used can affect your premiums. Autos used in business or with higher mileage use will tend to be involved in more accidents, so their premiums will be higher. Farm vehicles tend to produce fewer claims so their premiums tend to be lower.
  • Where your auto is stored and used will affect your premiums. Autos garaged and used in metropolitan areas tend to be involved in more accidents and claims, so generally their premiums are higher than for those in rural areas.
What types of autos may I insure?
  • Private Passenger Autos
  • Pickup Trucks
  • Farm Vehicles
  • Light Business Vehicles
  • Motor Homes and Camper Trailers
  • Utility Trailers
  • Motorcycles
  • Recreational Vehicles such as ATV’s, "Four-wheelers", and golf carts
  • Pickup and Camper Shells

Bodily Injury/Property Damage - pays those expenses of non-family persons that you might become legally responsible for because of an auto accident. These costs may include your defense costs, medical and rehabilitational expenses, and property damage and repair costs. Even our lowest liability limits satisfy or exceed the minimum protection limits required by Arkansas law.

Comprehensive Coverage - provides physical damage protection for your auto and will pay those costs to repair or replace your auto when involved in a covered accident. A covered accident includes fire, theft or vandalism, windstorm or tornado, hail, and hitting an animal. A deductible will apply, which is the amount of the loss paid by you. Deductibles help to keep auto premiums lower.
